Thanks to all of you, the CPN Guanin La Piedra Medical Clinic project has been completed. The clinic will serve La Piedra and the surrounding communities, covering over 1,170 families and totaling around 5,000 patients. This will provide accessible healthcare without commuting up to 3 hours by foot or motorcycle.
The Community Health Project was initiated in 2010 to provide La Piedra and neighboring villages with access to medical care within their vicinity. In 2019, the construction of a modern, 2-story medical clinic within the Guanin Community Center was completed. This building was designed to provide interdisciplinary services such as primary care, pediatric care, women’s health, and dentistry. On September 27, 2021, we signed an institutional agreement with the Minister of Health to provide the funding for the operation of the medical site which included maintenance fees and employee salaries. In April of 2022, another inter-institutional agreement was signed with the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) to expand the health services to the surrounding communities.
The CPN Guanin La Piedra Health Center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM until we are able to maintain 24/7 operation. It is our ultimate goal that the completion of this project will better the health and wellness of our community members.
